VINICIUS Junior was Real Madrid’s hero tonight as he scored twice against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in their UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg clash.
The Brazil forward struck once in each half as the 14-time champions initially led then had to come from behind to earn a 2-2 draw.
Leroy Sane and Harry Kane scored for the home side in the encounter between evenly-matched sides.
Vinicius Junior drew first blood for the Spanish giants in the 24th minute when he slipped the ball beyond Manuel Nueur after being put through by Toni Kroos.
Bayern Munich had more possession as well as shots in total and on target in that first half, but Real Madrid went into the break ahead.
The German side produced a quick response in the second half, scoring twice within the first 12 minutes to take the lead.
Sane got Bayern Munich level in the 53rd minute with a near post finish and Kane made it 2-1 from the penalty spot four minutes later.
Kane has now scored a remarkable 43 goals in 43 matches across all competitions this season for Bayern, eight of them in 11 Champions League games.
Bayern were on top for most of the second half but it was Real Madrid who scored the final goal of the night seven minutes from time when Vinicius Junior converted a penalty kick after it was awarded for a foul on Rodrygo.
The second leg of the semi-final tie is Wednesday next week in Madrid, with the winners on aggregate facing either Paris Saint-Germain or Borussia Dortmund in the final.
