Super Falcons midfielder Ngozi Okobi has become a mother for the first time.
She announced the birth of her baby on X today, without revealing the gender.
“Congratulations to me, I am in my new season,” she wrote on her personal X account, which has over 15,000 followers.
Okobi celebrated motherhood with the hashtags #godbepraised, #iamamother and #newmom and attached pictures showing off her big baby bump.
The Sweden-based midfielder got married in December 2017 in Delta State.
Okobi is one of the most accomplished players in women’s football from Africa, with her achievements with the Super Falcons.
The former Delta Queens player represented Nigeria at the 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, winning the 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018 editions.
The 30-year-old former Washington Spirits star also played for Nigeria at the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cups, although she was controversially dropped from the 2023 edition.
