Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Special Offences Court has ordered the remand of Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager of Paul and Peter Okoye (formerly of P-Square), at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre.
He is facing allegations of theft amounting to $1,019,762.86 and £34,537.59.
Okoye will remain in custody until March 6, when his bail application will be heard. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has charged him and his company, Northside Music Limited, with four counts of stealing and fraudulent conversion of funds.
During the court proceedings, Okoye pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The EFCC’s prosecuting counsel, M.K. Bashir, requested a trial date, stating that the agency has 29 witnesses, with 10 of them available to testify within the jurisdiction.
The defence counsel, Climate Onwuenwunor (SAN), did not oppose the request for a trial date but urged the court to consider the bail previously granted to Okoye at the Federal High Court.
He also requested that his client remain on the EFCC’s administrative bail pending the hearing of the bail application.
Justice Oshodi adjourned the case for further proceedings.
