FULHAM, with the help of four Nigerian stars, piled more misery on Liverpool on Sunday with a 1-0 win at Anfield.
Ola Aina, Tosin Adarabioyo, Ademola Lookman and Josh Maja were all on from the start as Fulham handed the champions their sixth straight home defeat in the Premier League.
Jonathan Lemina scored the only goal of the match in the first half but all the Nigerian players also contributed immensely to Fulham’s big win.
Lookman was a thorn in the side of the Liverpool defence with his direct running and trickery, while Maja led the line brilliantly.
Adarabioyo was excellent in the heart of defence, and Aina was near-perfect in his wing-back role.
With the win, Fulham enhanced their survival chances, staying in the last relegation spot (18th) but going level on 26 points with Brighton in 17th.
Liverpool are seventh with 43 points.
Also on Sunday in Serie A, Super Eagles striker Simeon Nwankwo, referred to as Simy in Italy, was on target twice as his side Crotone defeated Torino 4-2.
The Nigerian scored the opening goal from the penalty spot in the 27th minute and made it 2-1 in the 54th minute after the visitors had equalised.
Despite the win, Crotone are still bottom of the 20-team Serie A table with 15 points from 26 matches, six points away from safety.
The 28-year-old Simy has now scored 10 goals in 26 appearances in the Italian top flight.
