KADUNA: NAF jet bombards bandits’ hideouts, kill scores

SCORES of bandits were reported to have been killed when the Nigerian Air Force jet bombarded their hideouts in two local government areas of  Chikun and Birnin Gwari, today. 

The bandits were said to travelling on motorcycles when the NAF jet in an aerial mission hit and killed scores of them.

The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan stated this in a statement titled, ‘bandits neutralized in aerial missions over Chikun, Birnin Gwari local government areas’. 

Aruwan said, “Several bandits were neutralized during aerial missions conducted over locations in Chikun and Birnin Gwari local government areas.

“According to operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government, air platforms conducted armed reconnaissance over Gwagwada, Chikun, Kuduru, Chukuba, Erina, Kushaka, Dogon Gona, Kusasu, Sarkin Pawa, Kurebe and Falleli around the Kaduna-Niger interstate boundaries.

“About 8km Northeast of Kushaka, bandits were sighted crossing a track to flee from the aircraft. They were promptly engaged and neutralized. Ground troops reported calm situations at Sarkin Pawa and Erina.

“Another mission was conducted at the Birnin Gwari general area with an informant on board to identify bandit hideouts, which were then engaged with rockets.

“A bandit scampering for cover within the woods was also neutralized..“Receiving the operational feedback, Governor Nasir El-Rufai thanked the crews and commended them for the successful missions.”

This happened weeks after Governor Nasir El-Rufai vowed that any bandit caught in the state would be killed stressing that he would not enter into peace talks with bandits.
