Grateful Lukaku wins top Europa League award

INTER MILAN striker Romelu Lukaku has been named the best player of last season’s UEFA Europa League.

The Belgian scored seven goals to take the Italian club to the final, where they lost to Sevilla.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United star Lukaku was announced as the award winner during Friday’s group stage draw and he expressed his gratitude to family, friends and colleagues.

“I want to thank God for putting me in this position,” Lukaku tweeted moments after the ceremony.

“My mom and my brother for the unconditional love and support! Antonio Conte and his staff thank you for the daily work and for believing in me. And especially my teammates you guys made this happening for me. Thank you!!”

Lukaku has continued his impressive goalscoring form this season, netting three times in his first two Serie A games.
