THERE are strong indications that new Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum will not leave his current position in the United States of America fully, Naija Times reports.

The 64-year-old former Trinidad and Tobago women’s national team trainer has been head women’s soccer coach at the University of Pittsburgh since 2017.

In his message of acceptance to work with the Nigerian women’s team, Waldrum hinted that he would retain his position in Pittsburgh.

“Very excited to head up the #NigerianWomensNationalTeam and look forward to working with this amazing team!” Waldrum tweeted.

“Gives me a chance to reconnect with some of the players I know! Big thanks to Pitt for allowing me the flexibility to work with them! #SuperFalcons.”

Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick said Waldrum was  given the job after a thorough process by Phillips Consulting.

“For the Super Falcons, I’m happy to announce that Randy Waldrum will be the man tasked with taking our Women to the next level,” Pinnick stated.

“Waldrum was one of over forty coaches interviewed by our consultants, Phillips Consulting, with that list pruned to four & Waldrum getting the job.”

The American replaces Swede Thomas Dennerby who left the position under acrimonious circumstances after the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France in 2019.
