TWO Nigerian forwards, Terem Moffi and Victor Boniface, were on target tonight as the first legs of the UEFA Europa League and Conference League were held across Europe.

In the Europa League, the standout fixture was Manchester United against Sevilla at Old Trafford in which the hosts let slip a two-goal lead to draw 2-2.

Moffi was the star of the night, scoring a brace as Nice held their hosts Basel to a 2-2 draw in their UEFA Europa Conference League clash.

The Super Eagles striker drew his French side level in the 38th minute before firing them ahead with a spectacular overhead kick just before the break.

The Swiss hosts equalised in the 71st minute through Zeki Amdouni, who also scored their opening goal in the first half from the penalty spot.

Boniface, who is yet to make a Super Eagles appearance, struck in Union St Gilloise’s 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League.

The 22-year-old Nigerian scored in the 51st minute to take his tally in the competition to an impressive six goals in nine appearances, but the hosts equalised through Florian Wirtz with eight minutes left on the clock.

At Old Trafford, Manchester United looked in control against Sevilla after taking a 2-0 lead in the first half via a Marcel Sarbitzer brace.

But after a rash of missed chances and several substitutions, Erik ten Hag’s side fell apart and conceded two late own goals, first through Tyler Malacia and later via substitute Harry Maguire.

To pile more misery on United, the side lost Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez to injury, while Bruno Fernandes is suspended for the return leg next Thursday.

In other European fixtures tonight, Juventus defeated Sporting Lisbon 1-0 and Roma were beaten by the same score at Feyenoord in the Europa League, while Gift Orban’s Gent played a 1-1 home draw against West Ham in the Conference League.
